Small hands. Big ideas.

Little Big Brains is a community nonprofit based in Hanover, Maryland, built on a simple belief: artistic talent shows up in every neighborhood, but opportunity doesn't.

Our story

Why we started

Art classes, quality supplies, and gallery experiences cost money, and for many families they simply aren't within reach. That means countless gifted kids never get the chance to find out what they can create.

Little Big Brains was founded to close that gap. We go where kids already are, run free workshops, watch for the spark, and then build a path for each child: structured classes, the supplies to keep practicing at home, a place to show their work, and support to keep learning.

Our name says it all: these are little people with big, brilliant brains, and they deserve big opportunities.

Our approach

Three steps, one journey

Discover

Free Talent Discovery Days bring art into neighborhoods so every child can try different mediums with no pressure and no cost.

Nurture

Little Giants Academy and Creator Kits give kids real instruction and the tools to keep creating between classes.

Celebrate

The Young Artist Gallery and Art to Opportunity put kids' work in front of the public and fund what comes next.

Who we serve

Kids with talent
and few doors open

We prioritize children from families facing financial hardship, under-resourced schools, and neighborhoods with few arts programs.

🏘️

Local neighborhoods

Hanover, Anne Arundel County and surrounding Maryland communities.

🧒

Every skill level

No experience or portfolio required. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.

👨‍👩‍👧

Families first

Programs are free, and guardians are partners in every step, including consent for anything shared online.
